For over a decade, Pastor Carlos Garcia has faithfully served in the Central California Conference (CCC), ministering in the Los Banos, Modesto, and Santa Maria churches. From the earliest days of his service in late 2011 to his final Sabbath, Garcia’s impact on each congregation has been marked by his enthusiasm for evangelism, his heartfelt pulpit ministry, and a dedicated commitment to Adventist education.
A Decade of Ministry in Central California
When asked to reflect on his time in the CCC, Garcia highlighted the blessing of conducting evangelistic campaigns—witnessing people choose baptism and a life of faith in Christ. Yet, what stands out most for him is the opportunity to guide young people toward Adventist education. “I cherish the ability to have recruited—in every congregation—children into our Christian schools,” he shared. Ensuring that children had the chance to study in a faith-based environment became one of his most meaningful achievements.
Finding Joy in Preaching and Transformation
Garcia credits preaching for some of his greatest joys in ministry, describing how watching hearts and lives change through the power of biblical teaching never ceased to amaze him. “Seeing people change their lives as a result of biblical preaching is always something I’ve been thankful for,” he noted, recognizing that every sermon was a chance for the Holy Spirit to work.
A New Calling at Pacific Union College
Garcia now embarks on a new journey as Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations at Pacific Union College (PUC), officially beginning on February 1. In his new role, Garcia looks forward to engaging with students, encouraging them to embrace Christian education, and championing PUC’s mission. “It opens the door to new opportunities, sharpens talents, and strengthens leadership and organizational skills,” he explained.
A Heartfelt Farewell
Despite his excitement for the new challenges ahead, Garcia’s departure is marked by warm gratitude and bittersweet emotions. “There are not enough words to express my love, appreciation, and respect for the leadership at the Central California Conference, and the fellowship and camaraderie with all the pastors,” he said. “I leave with mixed emotions; I know God is calling, but I will miss the Central California Conference deeply.”
As he transitions to his new position, Carlos Garcia carries with him the memories and friendships forged through years of dedicated service. His passion for evangelism, fervent preaching, and unwavering commitment to Adventist education will continue to inspire CCC members and beyond. While his presence will be missed among the congregations he served, his influence and legacy remain: a testament to faith in action and a call to answer God’s leading, wherever it may be.
